About

My Approach

In every project, my approach is to understand the full picture – the user, the organization, the team, and the existing systems – to propose the best possible approach and solution. I gather insights and requirements from stakeholders, create a plan, and execute it. Sometimes this involves workshops, strategy sessions, quantitative and qualitative research, wireframes, user testing, and an agile approach to launching and testing features. And sometimes there’s not the need or time for it all, and I can work with that too.

My Story

I’ve always been fascinated with the interaction between systems and people, and my business degree in Information Systems Design could be called a UX education before the term existed. I grew up in small town Wisconsin, launched my career in Minneapolis, Minnesota, traveled for two years to 40+ countries, and landed in Sydney, Australia, where I now live with my partner in Bondi Beach.

What I Do

I’m currently working part time on my startup, BoxHawk, and part time on freelance projects for UX design, research, strategy, or website development for agencies, startups, and brands. I sometimes also teach UX at Academy Xi. If you want to work together on any of these things, contact me.
